Question:

How can you reduce swelling after facelift?

Answer:

The best way to minimize swelling after a facelift is to actually take precautions before surgery. All NSAID’s such as ibuprofen, Alleve and Excedrin, which cause bleeding and bruising, as well as fish oil and herbal supplements, which may increase bleeding and bruising, should be avoided for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after surgery. In the first 48 hours, a cooling face mask can be worn to minimize swelling and if a neck lift was performed a neck garment should be worn for approximately two weeks at night. Various herbal medications, such as arnica Montana and bromelin can be used pre and post surgery to minimize bruising.
