Question:
Will I get scars from having nose job surgery?
Answer:
Some rhinoplasty incisions can be made entirely inside the nose, referred to endonasal or closed rhinoplasty. In this case there are no visible scars. In other situations, an open or external incision is necessary. With open rhinoplasty, the incision is made on the columella, the center piece of skin that separates the right and left nostrils. Dr. Rizk employs a 3D endosopic technique for both open and closed rhinoplasty, thereby limiting the size of the necessary scar and reducing healing time.

Question:
Can you smoke after rhinoplasty?
Answer:
If you are a smoker, Dr. Rizk advises that it is important to quit smoking two weeks before and two weeks after rhinoplasty. The reason for this is that smoking causes vasoconstriction of blood vessels in the skin. Correct healing depends on adequate circulation. In general, smokers heal slower and have an increased risk of other complications such as necrosis, scarring and skin loss. Smoking can also be related to problems with airway obstruction, anesthesia reaction and bleeding.
